Chapter 6 ~ Parcel

Aadhya's pov ~

“Mam, here’s a package for you,” the delivery boy said as he handed me a parcel along with a bouquet of roses.

I couldn’t recall ordering anything.

I accepted the parcel, and he informed me that it was already paid for.

“Do you know who sent it?” I inquired.

“Sorry, mam, but I don’t,” he replied, and I nodded in understanding.

When I returned to my room, I noticed a note tucked among the roses.

The note read:

Hey Aadhya… hope you’re doing well. I’ve sent you a little something that I think you’ll like, and I’ll pick you up at 6.

– Kabir

Ohhh, to be honest I don't know what to think about it, not gonna lie I am impressed by his thoughtfulness but somewhere I feel bad for him too.

He is putting effort into our relationship and on the other hand I am just lost about everything.

My life is such a fucked up mess.

I opened the parcel and, oh my fucking God!

He had sent me a dress, accessories, and matching shoes for our outing.

Or unofficial date, as my subconscious pointed out… someday i am gonna kill this little fucker inside my head.

Wow, this guy knows how to impress a girl.

I found yet another note in the box.

It said: Please wear this dress today if you can.

I didn’t want to give him false hopes by wearing this dress but I also didn’t want to hurt his feelings by not wearing it.

Why is my life so complicated?

“Aadhya!” my mom called from downstairs.

“Yes, Maa?” I replied.

“I have a business party to attend tonight. Would you like to come with me?” she asked.

“Are you asking me to join you at a business party?"

I was kind of surprised that she is asking me this because my mom never ever had time for us nor does she ever asked me to join her somewhere. So this coming from her is a big deal for me. This invitation felt significant.

“Yes, Aadhya, I want you to come,” she reiterated.

Believe me, I was so tempt to cancel my plans with Kabir to accompany my mom, but I couldn’t.

Kabir had made all the arrangements for today, and also he had sent me a dress. How can i deny him saying i can't make it tonight.

“But Mom, I can’t. I'm meeting Kabir today, and he already has everything planned,” I explained.

“Oh, that’s fine. When will you be leaving?” she asked.

“He’ll pick me up at 6.”

“Nice, enjoy yourself,” she said with a smile, patting my back as she walked away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shit! it’s 5:55, and I’m still not ready because I fell asleep. This habit of sleeping at any time of mine will kill me one day.Plus, I can’t decide which dress to wear.
After some thought, I decided to wear the dress Kabir gifted me; since he’s making an effort for us, I didn’t think it was too much to do this small thing.
I quickly got ready and went downstairs, and saw Kabir chatting with my mom.
“Sorry for making you wait,” I said, but he was too busy admiring me to respond.
I glanced at my mom, who smiled at him then at me.
Everyone in this house seems a bit off their rocker, I thought.
“Kabir,” I said, waving my hands in front of his face.
“Ah, yes, it’s fine,” he said, then turned to my mom, “Ishi, is it okay if I take Aadhya with me?”
“Of course, have fun,” she replied.
“Bye, mom! Bye, Ishi!” we both called out as we left.
As we stepped outside, I saw his car parked in front of our house.
He opened the passenger door for me, gesturing for me to get in.
I climbed into the car, and wow, the interior was stunning.
I hadn’t noticed when he got in beside me.
He handed me another bouquet of red roses and said, “You look amazing, and thank you for wearing the dress.”
“Where am I supposed to put all these flowers?” I chuckled.
He smiled and said, “Wherever you want,” and started the car.
And so, our unofficial date began. My subconscious chimed in again, reminding me to silence that annoying voice.
